WBCGS is a 100% volunteer-run organization whose members have an interest in genealogy and family history.  In addition to its  mission to preserve and promote the history of Winnebago and Boone Counties, Illinois, our programs and newsletters offer ideas and resources for people to use in researching and publishing the history of their own ancestors. Your support helps us provide free quality educational programs, presented by a variety of expert genealogists and professional historians.

You can support us in several ways:

Become a member:  Membership is open to any person interested in researching and preserving genealogical and historical records.  See our Membership tab to learn about our different membership types, the benefits and how to join WBCGS today!

Volunteer:  Our organization relies on membership participation.  We look for projects aimed at transcribing and indexing records, and encourage members to submit content or questions to our newsletter committee Any member interested is welcome to attend a meeting of our Board of Directors.
